A Volunteer Military

From the Boer War, through the two world wars, Korea, dozens of peacekeeping missions over fifty years, Kosovo and the NATO mission in Afghanistan, Canada has had over three milion soldiers, sailors and aircrew serving in these overseas conflicts.

No country in the world has consistently put forth a greater effort in proportion to its population to support its allies. As in all countries, it is the young men and women barely coming into the prime of their lives, and their families, that make the greatest contribution.
