Private Colin William Wilmot was born on 12 May 1984 in Fredericton, New Brunswick. He enrolled in the Canadian Forces in October 2005. He was awarded the Commandant’s Shield for being the Top Candidate on his basic medical training. Upon completion of training Private Wilmot was posted to 1 Field Ambulance in Edmonton, Alberta.
Private Colin William Wilmot was killed in action in Afghanistan on 5 July 2008. He was serving as a medic on a 2 PPCLI Battle Group foot patrol when he was critically wounded by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Panjwai District, Kandahar.
Although this was Private Wilmot’s first overseas tour, he was a skilled medic who regularly supported security patrols. He will be missed by his fiancée Laura Lee English, his step-father Warrant Officer Erik Craig, his step-mother Nancy Craig and his sister Kathleen Mary Kingston.
