MCpl Christian Duchesne, was killed when a land mine ripped through his armoured vehicle about 50 kilometres west of Kandahar city, following a fierce battle with insurgents in the area.

He was described as a great leader, and completely devoted to his work. Five minutes with him, and it was like you had known him 10 years," said Master Seaman Yannick Fortier, who was Duchesne's supervisor. He leaves behind his wife, and three young daughters.
