Warrant Officer Dennis Brown

Warrant Officer Dennis Raymond Brown was a reservist from The Lincoln and Welland Regiment in St. Catharines, Ontario. WO Brown served with the "Lincs and Winks" for 20 years and was on leave from his civilian job of 8 years as a special constable with the Niagara Regional Police.

He was described as a leader who was dedicated to his job and also enjoyed sports, especially hockey. He was deployed with the Canadian contingent of NATO forces in Afghanistan.

WO Dennis Brown was aged 38 when he was killed along with Cpl Dany Fortin and Cpl Kenneth Chad O'Quinn after their armoured vehicle hit an improvised explosive device in the Arghandab District approximately 10 kilometres northwest of Kandahar City. They were returning to base after defusing another roadside bomb. Two other soldiers injured in the incident were evacuated by helicopter for medical treatment.

His awards and decorations include the Canadian Forces Decoration (CD), the UN Transitional Authority in Cambodia Medal and the Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal.

He is survived by his wife Mishelle; children Jenna, Mac, Owen and Ben; parents Ed and Cecilia Brown; four brothers and extended family.
