Corporal Tyler Crooks

Corporal Tyler Crooks was born on 20 March 1985 in Port Colborne, Ontario. He was a member of the 1st Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment, based in Petawawa, Ontario. He was deployed as a member of November Company, 3rd Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment Battle Group serving with NATO forces in Afghanistan.

Cpl Crooks was described as very fit and athletic, an avid dirt-biker and a Texas hold ‘em card shark. He played junior hockey before joining the military in 2005 and continued to enjoy playing on a team at the base.

He was well regarded by his superiors who planned to put his name forward for officer training. Tyler, who died on his 24th birthday, is survived by parents Alfred and Karen, younger brother Tage, extended family, fiancée Kelly Maxwell and her family.

He will be fondly remembered by his many comrades and friends.
