When war broke out Frank was shipped overseas with the No.1 Provost Company of the 1st Canadian Infantry Division. During this period Helen completed her degree in Home Economics at the University of Toronto and from July 1942 until 1946 served as a member of the RCAF in Canada and the UK. She retired as a Flight Officer in April 1946. Frank and Helen did not see each other from 1939 until the spring of 1946.
Not long after their reunion, they were married in Swift Current, Saskatchewan in Sept 1946 and lived happily ever after. Frank remained in the RCMP until March 1948, then enrolled with the University of Saskatchewan. After a year he was admitted to the school of Dentistry at the University of Alberta and graduated in 1953. He practiced dentistry in Swift Current until 1972 then moved to Wetaskiwin where he practiced until 1983. Helen and Frank had five sons, four who live and work in Alberta, another in B.C.
